Any Dog Mama Out There?

Do you call yourself a dog mama?
Can you explain to me why? I mean it. Genuinely.

I'm stunned whenever someone refers to herself as a dog mama (I never heard a guy call himself a dog dad so I'm going to be using the feminine pronoun).

Here is my perspective. I'm a mother of an actual human being that I had given birth to and also breastfed for several months of her life. I would wake up every three hours at night for two months straight to feed and change my baby. Now that I have a toddler on my hands, I'm also trying to parent her, to raise a independent and happy person. I'm there for my child whenever she needs me, whether it's now, in five years or in twenty years, as long as I live. I would sacrifice my life for her and I constantly worry about her. I get that if you have a dog, you also take on some new responsibilities and have a certain relationship with your dog but I don't understand why you call yourself a dog mama. You can leave your dog unattended for eight hours while you're at work and the worst thing that can happen is that it will lick its crotch till it passes out on your couch or possibly mess up your carpeting. I can't do the same with a child. When your dog gets old or very sick, you will take it to a vet and put it down. I won't do the same with a child. So I struggle with this term, especially when it's used in a conversation when I talk about my baby. I have noticed that's when the dog mamas also jump in to let me know about their challenges as "moms", which leaves me completely dumbfounded since all I see is a dog owner.

So is there anyone who can help me understand this ?
